Asral’s projects focus on six main areas: food security, self-sufficiency through handicrafts, health, education, outreach and sponsorship. The ASRAL-foundation is a Buddhist non-profit organization. The volunteers working for ASRAL organize homework classes and provide daily meals for the youth that live in the slopes of Ulaanbaatar. They also taught more than a hundred women to sew, thus giving them a chance to provide a living for their families. Some of these women are now working in saloons. Others are stayed under the wings of ASRAL. These women have made this product. Shop Mongolia emphasizes that they receive a fair price for their labor. Any profit that the ASRAL foundation makes is put back in one of their projects.
